Cafe Reading May 25th - May 28th

Hi! It’s Mrs. Barton (your Teacher-Librarian). Hope everyone is well
and making sure to get outside to enjoy the beautiful weather we are
having. This week’s review Café Reading lesson will be the
comprehension strategy Compare and Contrast.

Compare and Contrast is when readers understand new ideas in text
by thinking about how things are alike or different, thus deepening
their comprehension.
This strategy can be used to compare and contrast (C&C) books you are
reading, to C&C characters in a book, and to C&C yourself to a
character.

Activity

1. Attached are two videos on ‘Amazing Animals’ from National Geographic
Kids. I would like you to watch the videos and fill out the Venn Diagram on
the next page. Each animal from the videos will be represented on the outer
circles where you will write down how the animals are different. In the
middle where the circles overlap, you will write down how the animals are the
same. The picture above is an example of how you would do this.
